Aston Martin Racing driver Frederic Makowiecki claimed pole position for Sunday’s Silverstone round of the Blancpain Endurance Series.
Makowiecki, who is sharing the factory-run Aston Martin V12 Vantage with Darren Turner and Stefan Mucke, took the pole with a 2m01.140s laps set in the second of the three 15-minute qualifying sessions.
That time was just four one hundredths quicker than Alex Buncombe went in the fastest of the RJN Nissan GT-Rs in the third session.

Makowiecki, who is racing with AMR in the World Endurance Championship this year, said: “The car is nice, but I was a little bit lucky because I didn’t have any traffic.”
Christopher Mies ended up third fastest in the best of the three WRT Audi R8 LMS ultras, which was just ahead of Alessandro Pier Guidi in the quickest of the four SMP Ferrari 458 Italias.
Buncombe, who shares with Lucas Ordonez and Peter Pyzera, was fastest in the Pro-Am class and British GT regular and AMR team principal John Gaw was quickest in the Gentlemen Trophy in his Aston.
The three-hour race, the second round of this year’s Blancpain series, starts at 2.50pm local time.
