The World Touring Car Championship has dropped next month’s planned Brazilian round in favour of a maiden visit to Argentina.
The series had been due to race at Curitiba (pictured) on July 28, but will instead go to the Termas de Rio Honda track in Argentina one week later.
“We have decided to swap from Brazil to Argentina because of logistics,” said series chief Marcello Lotti.
“However, we maintain a close relationship with the Brazilian authorities and we plan to include both South American events in the 2014 calendar.”
The Termas de Rio Honda track has been renovated ready to host MotoGP, although the motorcycling series postponed its visit from 2013 to next season amid political tensions in Argentina involving the Honda factory team’s title backer Repsol.
Curitiba had hosted the WTCC every year since 2006.
