Jordan gets Knockhill grid penalty

Jordan gets Knockhill grid penaltyBritish Touring Car title contender Andrew Jordan will have a six-place grid penalty in the next round at Knockhill.

Under new regulations for this year, any driver who gets points on their licence for three on-track offences will be hit by a grid penalty.

Jordan was given two points for contact with Gordon Shedden in the second race at Snetterton last weekend and it has now been confirmed he will have a six-place grid penalty for race one in Scotland.

Although Jordan feels Shedden braked early approaching Oggies, he accepted the penalty.

“You can’t get away from the fact I hit the back of his car,” said Jordan, who is only nine points behind points leader Matt Neal. “You’ve got to take it on the chin.”

The Eurotech Honda driver still believes a good result at Knockhill is possible.

“I think the Honda will struggle there a little bit because of the [low turbo] boost [the Civics are allowed], but it’s action-packed there and I think we’ll be OK.

“It’s probably better to have it at the start of the weekend, when there’s time to recover.

“I think we’ll be able to fight our way back to where we would have been.

“We’ve had this hanging over our heads so now we can get on with things and try and be clean for the rest of the year.”
