Robert Kubica’s domination of Rally Canaries is over after he crashed on stage 10 out of 14.
The Pole had won every stage on Friday and ended the day 1m05s clear of nearest rival Jan Kopecky.
Kopecky slightly outpaced Kubica on SS9, Saturday’s opener, with the Citroen driver saying he was taking it carefully.
But 10 miles onto the next stage Kubica went off the road, hit a barrier and was unable to continue.
A spokesperson from the Citroen team said: “Between junctions seven and eight, Robert has stopped.
“In a right corner he braked too late. He hit the barrier and the wheel is broken. He just called the team to say they are OK, but it’s finished. They stopped in the stage.”
Kopecky now picks up the rally lead ahead of Craig Breen.
