Nico Hulkenberg will line up alongside Robin Frijns and Kimiya Sato for Sauber in Formula 1′s Silverstone young driver test next week.
With race drivers allowed to participate in order to work on Pirelli’s new tyres, Sauber has elected to run the German in the afternoon of the second day.
He will take over from reigning Formula Renault 3.5 champion and Sauber reserve driver Frijns, who will be charged with driving duties for the first day and a half.
Sato meanwhile will make his F1 debut on the third and final day.
The 23-year-old Japanese driver currently leads this year’s Auto GP championship, having won three times in the opening eight races.
