The Masters of Formula 3 race has been saved after the FIA World Motor Sports Council agreed to a dispensation in the F3 European Championship sporting regulations, AUTOSPORT has learned.
The category’s Zandvoort classic, which has moved to a new date of July 7, will still be joined by the FIA GT Series, which has also moved its Dutch date forward a week.
A new rule, banning any teams or drivers in European F3 from testing or racing on a circuit subsequently used in the championship, had put the Masters in jeopardy, as the series has a date at the track on September 28/29.
The FIA’s decision to suspend that ruling for Zandvoort means that the blue-riband race, now in its 23rd year, should attract most of the leading European championship runners.
