Event Preview Fact Sheet

This Week’s Shore Lodge Chevrolet at Dover International Speedway … Brian Scott will pilot chassis No. 115 from Richard Childress Racing’s NASCAR Nationwide Series stable in Saturday afternoon’s Dover 200. This chassis was utilized earlier this season at Bristol Motor Speedway where Scott started eighth, and earned a 10th-place finish.

Winning History at The Monster Mile … The concrete one-mile oval marks the sight of Scott’s first NASCAR win. The 25-year-old Chevrolet driver claimed victory in the 2009 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event after leading the final 14 laps. Additionally, Scott has six previous Nationwide Series starts at the one-mile speedway, earning a third-place finish in this event one year ago. He also has three top-10 finishes with an average finishing position of 12.2.

Garden State of Mind for Gould … No. 2 Chevrolet team crew chief Phil Gould can call Dover International Speedway his hometown track. A native of South Brunswick, N.J., Gould grew up a race fan and even spent his younger years wheelin’ street stocks around Wall Stadium and local short tracks before making the leap to the world of NASCAR. Over his tenure with RCR, Gould earned the 2003 Nationwide Series Owners championship, as well as numerous wins as the car chief on the No. 29, including victories at Daytona International Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway in the Coca-Cola 600 and a third-place finish in the Sprint Cup Chase. This year marks Gould’s first season as a crew chief, and in 10 starts he’s led the No. 2 team to five top-10 finishes.

Multi-Tasking Saturday … Scott will take his turn as media member during Saturday afternoon’s 200-lap event at Dover. The No. 2 Shore Lodge Chevrolet driver will be ESPN’s featured in-race reporter.

Son of a NASCAR Hall of Fame Inductee … Engine specialist Timmy Petty grew up around one of the most iconic racing families in history. This past week has been special for the No. 2 ECR engine specialist as his father, Maurice Petty, was announced among the newest class of the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Timmy joined RCR/ECR in 2006 and has worked on numerous engine programs, including Paul Menard’s 2011 Brickyard 400 win.

Lodging in Idaho … Shore Lodge will serve as the primary sponsor for Scott and the No. 2 team this weekend at Dover International Speedway. Set on the southern shore of Payette Lake in McCall, Idaho, four seasons of adventure await at this idyllic location. A family favorite since 1948, the travel destination allows guests to enjoy the spectacular views, friendly service and generous accommodations at the lake front resort. Shore Lodge serves as the perfect mixture of adventure and luxury featuring 26 spa adventures, fitness studio, golf privileges at Whitetail Club, jet skiing, and a private beach for guests.

Race Rewind … In this event last year, Scott started from the fifth spot and finished third, a career-best Nationwide Series result at the Monster Mile.

BRIAN SCOTT QUOTES:

What’s your mindset heading into this weekend at Dover International Speedway?

“Having had success at Dover (International Speedway), I feel like I know the setup and feel in the car to win. Anytime you’ve won a race or had a good run anywhere, you know why you’re able to win and know what the setup was doing. No matter what type of car you’re in, you still have to know the most important parts of the race track to be good enough to beat everybody.”

With Dover International Speedway being a concrete track, how does the racing surface change as tire rubber is laid down?

“It seems to be the characteristics of concrete racetracks like Bristol Motor Speedway and Dover International Speedway both do it. You have to change your driving style as the rubber continues to lay down. That’s something I feel why I’ve run so well there, the ability to recognize the changes in the track and how to adjust.”

What does it feel like to race at Dover International Speedway?

“Dover International Speedway gives you the greatest sensation of speed and you feel like you’re going so fast. They have the cross over bridges in turns two and three; it just feels like a really fast track.”

Dover International Speedway is known for their unique trophy. Where is your ‘Miles the Monster’?

“I have a little pool house that I converted into a bar, and that’s where Miles holds residence. I took the checkered flag and shaved it down to fit in his fists … I think it’s cool. I’m sure people have dressed him up with Mardi Gras beads after a house party or two. It’s a fun trophy. I love having it and seeing it every day to remember that first win.”
