Motorbase completes third Focus run

Motorbase completes third Focus runBritish Touring Car squad Motorbase ran its third NGTC Ford Focus at Snetterton yesterday and hopes to race it in the championship soon.

The squad’s British GT champion Michael Caine, who had originally been entered to race in the 2013 BTCC, drove the car.

Although Caine is now unlikely to race the NGTC machine, team boss David Bartrum still hopes to run it alongside regular drivers Mat Jackson and Aron Smith during the season.

“Due to the pressure of British GT and work commitments, Michael won’t be doing the BTCC,” Bartrum told AUTOSPORT.

“Ideally, we’d like to run it in the second half of the season, but we haven’t got a driver yet.”

Bartrum also believes the team is making progress with the Focuses after a difficult start to 2013.

“We’ve had some technical issues not of our own making and we also missed a few things,” he added.

“Now we’ve made massive steps forward with it.”
