Buller and T-Sport part company

Will BullerNorthern Irish Formula 3 racer Will Buller has parted company with the T-Sport team.

Buller, who has entered the British F3 International Series with Fortec Motorsport, took a best result of fourth in the opening four rounds of the F3 European Championship with T-Sport’s ThreeBond/Nissan-powered Dallara.

This has come as a disappointment, after the combination flew during pre-season tests at Barcelona and Monza.

“I was very excited after the pre-season testing for the 2013 campaign, but after the first four rounds of the championship it has proven very difficult to achieve our goal of running at the front of the grid,” said Buller in a statement.

“I have no doubt that T-Sport will get there over time as a result of some great people within, but I feel the campaign is more likely to take two years rather than one, and therefore to achieve my own personal goals we have to review my options.”

“We were delighted that Russell [Eacott, T-Sport team principal] understood our issues and the fact that he was totally supportive reflects the ethos of the company in developing drivers.

Will Buller, T-Sport, Brands Hatch European F3 2013“I felt very proud to be the ambassador for the ThreeBond group and Tomei engine company in their maiden voyage into European motorsport, and I feel that if the commitment had been for a two-year campaign the outcome would have been different.”

Eacott said: “The relationship with William has been very successful, but we are still unable to qualify in the top six, which is essential for success in Formula 3.

“It’s a shame the partnership has not worked out for all parties but we wish William all the best in his future racing career.”

AUTOSPORT understands that T-Sport could field just one car for Spike Goddard in the next round at the Red Bull Ring, but that a replacement driver should be on board in time for July’s Masters of F3 at Zandvoort.
